Merry Christmas and happy New Year! See you in 2014!

Wednesday 18th

So, this was our last day of class for this year!

We celebrated it by seeing the different shows our school friends performed for us in the academy. They were very good.

We could have worked a little harder but our song wasn’t that bad, either. At least, we tried!

Do you know what New Year Resolutions are? They are promises we make for the New Year.

What about this?

Our New Year Resolutions are going to be: work harder and behave better in class. Do you agree, Noelia? Don’t forget you have to keep this promise.

Congratulations to our Games winners!!
First place: Aitana
Second place: María

I would like to say good-bye to Aitana. We are going to miss you.

And I also want to wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
To you and your families.

And finally I would like to go through (to review) everything you have learnt with us this term.

All I want for Christmas is you

Wednesday 11th

So, what’s happening this week?
 Everybody is excited and nervous.
Very, very nervous!!! Is it because of your end of term marks?

Are you nervous because you have a lot of exams before Christmas?
Are you excited because you’re looking forward to Christmas holidays?
Definitely, I think that’s the reason.

Don’t worry! Next week we are having a party in the academy and we can enjoy and have fun!!!

You were very helpful and I know you are going to sing very well.

For homework, draw or download the pictures you were assigned to and keep practising the song. “All I want for Christmas is you.”
Here are the lyrics and the link to the song

All I want for Christmas is you
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree

I don't need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas day

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you

I won't ask for much this Christmas
I won't even wish for snow
I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the mistletoe

I won't make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeer click

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you, you baby

Oh, till the lights are shining
So brightly everywhere
And the sound of children's
Laughter fills the air

And everyone is singing
I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need
Won't you please bring my baby to me

Oh, I don't want a lot for Christmas
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see my baby
Standing right outside my door

'Cause I just want him for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you

(All I want for Christmas)
And you, and you, and you
(All I want for Christmas)
And you
All I want for Christmas

I went to Guam

Wednesday 4th December

Hello kids!

In our class today we learnt that Americans use the expression “On vacation” while the British use, “On holiday”

We practised the past.

Where did you go? I went to Guam.
When did you arrive? We arrived on Tuesday.

For homework, make the questions for these answers:

·        I rented a car.
·        I studied lots of maps.
·        I visited Tarzan Falls.
·        I went windsurfing and I took photos.
·        I ate in restaurants.
·        I bought souvenirs.

We did a listening exercise. You were very good at it.

We made up ( =invented) dialogues about holidays.

And finally, we played a board game: “An adventure Journey”

There were ability questions and also possessions.
·        Can you jump? Can you dive? Can you fly a plane?
·        Have you got a lighter? Have you got a torch? Have you got a rope?

The winner was the person who could do more things and have more objects! But also, the luckiest!!!!

Player 7, why do you talk so much Spanish and so little English in class?

Our Game was based on the listening activity and on a questions dictation.. Here’s the score:

Thanksgiving Day

On 4th Thursday in November, Thanksgiving Day.

Some of you did your homework and that’s why you have two extra points!!

We talked about past holidays. So, we used the past.

Then, we pretended to be on holiday. We made postcards and sent them to another classmate.
Nice postcards! Remember to write . “Dear + your friend’s name” and finish with “Love, and your name.”

Don’t forget the prepositions: ON the beach, AT the seaside, IN the city, IN the mountain…

We read about Thanksgiving Day

Can you remember the answers to these questions?

When is Thanksgiving Day celebrated in Canada?
When is Thanksgiving Day celebrated in the USA?
What was the “Mayflower”?
How do Americans celebrate this date?
What did Native Americans help the Pilgrims to do?

Do you remember the meaning of these words?
Corn, sweet potato, a feast, thankful, cabin, squash, turkey, Pilgrims

For homework, make sentences using the words above. You can use more than one word in the same sentence.

Today’s game was listening and vocabulary related to “Thanksgiving  Day”
