March
Hello!
So, this is the end of the
term!
What did we do in
class? We finished talking
about jobs, for the moment!
·
What do you do?
I’m a
hairdresser.
·
Where do you work?
I work at a hairdresser’s.
(hair salon)
·
What does he do?
He’s a
reporter.
·
Where does he work?
He works in
a newspaper.
·
What newspaper does he work for?
He works for The Times.
Why do you like
your job?
·
He’s a mechanic.
He
repairs
planes. He
likes
his job because he
likes
working with
machines.
·
She is a sports
instructor. She works in a hotel in Miami Beach. She works outside. She likes her job because it’s funny to
teach people how to play tennis and volleyball.
·
He is a police
officer. He wears a uniform. He likes his job because he
helps
people and arrests criminals.
What skills and
qualities do you have?
What are you going
to be?
·
I’m strong and
brave.
I’m not
afraid of danger. I enjoy travel, fun and excitement. I can balance
very easily. I’m going to be
an acrobat.
·
She’s friendly and
helpful. She isn’t shy. She likes talking on the telephone.
She
can use a computer and types very quickly.
She’s going to be a
secretary.
·
He’s quick and
careful. He isn’t patient. He likes trying new ideas. He can cook very
well. He’s going to be a chef.
·
They’re very gentle.
They aren’t
afraid of animals. They enjoy touching them. They can understand how
they feel. They are going to be
vets.
We listened to
some people telling us what they do at work and why they like their jobs.
·
He uses the
internet and attends to meetings. He sometimes goes on business trips. He likes his
job because every day is different.
·
She answers
questions all the time and she speaks on the phone. She doesn’t like her job because it’s
boring.
And you told me
what you would like to be.
What would you
like to be when you grow up?
·
Noelia would
like to be a TV presenter
or an actress because she likes being on TV.
·
Carlos would
like to be a
police officer or a firefighter because he likes helping
people.
·
Alejandro would like to be
a soldier because he likes shooting!
We say “an acrobat” because “acrobat”
begins with a vowel sound “a”. We don’t say “a uniform”, because “u” in “uniform” isn’t a vowel sound.
We say “an hour” because “h” isn’t
pronounced and “hour” begins with a
vowel sound, not letter.

Besides, you’ll
have to explain what it’s made of and how you make it!
See you on
