Shopping and a Theatre Play

Hello! How are things?

What did we do in our last class?

Well, we learnt the differences among several shopping places.

                   

·            Supermarket: is a place where you can buy different products: food, cleaning products, toiletries etc.

·            Street market: is a place where you can buy food and clothes. It’s in the street and the sellers use stalls to sell their products.

·            High street shops: different types of shops in the main street of towns or cities.

·            Department store: a big shop that has different floors (departments). They sell different products on each floor. E.g. “El Corte Inglés” “Harrods”etc.

·             Shopping centre (shopping mall – in American English): it’s a big place with lots of different shops inside. E.g. “Plaza Norte”, “Parquesur”

We revised vocabulary on clothes.

·            Can you tell me some clothes we wear on our top half?

·            On our bottom half?

·            On top and bottom half?

·            What we wear on our feet

Jason is wearing a flowery shirt, blue jeans and white and blue trainers.

Jeff and Lisa are wearing white shorts, striped T-shirts and sandals.

We went shopping for clothes.

Buying a T-shirt

C: Hello!

S: Hi! Can I help you?

C: Yes, please. Do you have this T-shirt in blue?

S: What size are you?

C: Medium.

S: yes. This is a Medium.

C: Can I try it on?

S: Of course. The changing rooms are over there.

Buying a pair of trainers

C: Hello!

S: Hi! Can I help you?

C: Yes, please. I’d like a pair of trainers.

S: What size are you?

C: 39.

S: What colour would you like?

C: White

S: These are Nike, these ones are Adidas. Which ones do you prefer?

C: Nike, please.

S: How are they?

C: They’re fine. How much are they?

S: they’re £49.99

C: Here you are.

S: Your change. Thank you.

C: Bye.

And we started reading the play we are going to perform for the end of the course!Its title is “Island for Sale” We selected the characters. Our casting is this:
